Frequently Asked Questions
ANSWER: This is the absolute most important question a prospective customer should be asking before even letting a company’s representative onto their property. The vast majority of roofing/restoration/home improvement companies fall into one of two categories:
1. The small, one man, one truck, ” jack of all trades/master of none” type company. Some of these guys can be really skilled at one or two trades, but almost nobody can “do it all” in every area of construction. The same way a plastic surgeon shouldn’t operate on knees, and a divorce lawyer should’t be hired to handle criminal cases, that also applies to construction. If you have a small job that is just barely a step above handyman level work, then a contractor like that might be what’s best for you.
AND
2. The large, sometimes huge company with a dozen or more employees, typically none of whom actually do any of the skilled labor themselves. They have fancy trucks and 5-10 “project managers” which is code for “salesmen” whose job it is to upsell you on the job as much as humanly possible. And ust like a slick talking car salesman, they often times can BS their way through anything. If you ask a construction related question that they don’t know the answerr to, you’d better believe you’re getting an answer either way. And it will be relayed to you with a level of confidence that should only come from a man with decades of experience in that field. But really these companies are just functioning as a middle man adding 30%-100% to the total cost of the job plus materials.
ANSWER: Neither. Renaissance truly is unlike any other company in the state of Indiana. We have hired full time skilled tradesmen and hired them as full time employees. Therefore, we do not put anything out for bids to subcontractors or other companies. The closest thing we have to a subcontractor are when a job requires a licensed electrician or licesned plumber to complete it. We have licensed tradesmen we offer to At which time the customer is informed of that, and given the option to have other licensed tradesmen or companies, bid on that part of the job. Otherwise we give our preferred tradesman’s estimate and inform the customer that we charge a 20% premium in order to stand behind that tradesman’s work. We are 100% transparent and do not pretend as though that plumber or electrician works only for Renaissance. The customer is also informed that they are free to negotiate directly with our preferred eletcrician and plumber on the price, should they desire to do so.
Other than that, the closest thing we have to a subcontractor is our occasional use of day laborers that we only use for unskilled labor when we get too busy to handle everything with just our full time employees.
Answer: Renaissance enjoys dealing and negotiating with insurance companies about as much as our customers enjoy paying their premiums and deductibles, but it is a necessary “evil” so to speak. All joking aside, most insurance companies aren’t really that hard to deal with as long as you have the right advocate on your side. You need someone with real actual experience in the construction industry and not just a guy who attended a couple of cult like roofing conventions over a few weekends.
Always. All of our estimates and roof inspections are free of charge with no obligation.
ANSWER: We stand behind all of our work 100%. While we can’t promise that paint won’t fade over time, or materials won’t wear out over years of daily use, anything work we do is guaranteed for a full year on many jobs, whereas roofing we give a 5 year workmanship warranty. Basically, if we’re responsible in any fashion for any issue, you’ll be taken care of for years.
